The documentary reveals a mysterious and almost unknown story from the times of Holocaust, that took place in Warsaw in 1943. The scandal that was thought to be morally ambiguous became known as ‘the Polish Hotel Scandal’. When after closing down the ghetto, Warsaw was claimed to be ‘free from Jews’ there appeared something called an ‘Embassy for Jews’. Due to Gestapo’s initiative and approval Jews could go to Dluga 29 street where paying lump sums of money, it was possible to obtain life saving passports of South America and other neutral countries. The actual owners of the documents are no longer alive. The documents intercepted by Jewish informers and then passed into circulation one more time allowed over 2500 Polish Jews to leave the country. Nevertheless, only as few as 200 people actually survived the Polish hotel scandal. What happened with the rest of the clients of the Hotel? Was it a trap? Who and why they survived? What’s the moral of this story to the contemporary world? The documentary maker tries to answer some of the above stated questions, confronting the recollections of witnesses of those events, found in Poland, New York and Israel.
